IMPORTANT INFORMATION School starts at 8:40. We will always enter and leave the building at the first grade doors!
Bring your planner and folder daily to school! Spring Break is next week! We will see you April 9th! J Have a great week off! Spring fever is in full force! We are noticing that behavior is “off” and we have implemented doing tally points in each class. You may have noticed there has been a big decrease in dojo points being assigned. This is because we are doing tally points in class. Every time the class reaches their tally point goal, they earn a behavior “reward.” The behavior reward can range from tiger prides, a game, 2 minutes extra of recess, a small treat, etc. In the 3 days that we have been doing this, we have noticed a big change in the behavior already! As we increase the desired behaviors, we will increase our tally goal! The students are enjoying the new incentive and their teachers are thankful for the hard work they are doing to improve their behavior! Homework: We will only be sending home math review this week! Volunteering: There are open slots to volunteer in Ms. Terry's room! Chinese Names A handful of students who already have Chinese names have started going by them at school, and this has made everyone else anxious and excited to get their own Chinese name! Ms. Mack has started the process of selecting an authentic Chinese name for each student, but she needs your help! If your child already has a Chinese name, please send it to Ms. Mack via email, Dojo, or written on a piece of paper. If you are able to include the characters and the pinyin, that would be excellent. If your first grader has older siblings in the immersion program, Ms. Mack needs their Chinese names as well so she can make sure she gives your first grader the same surname, and does not repeat other characters in the names. If you are unable to provide the Chinese names of your older immersion students, please send in their English name, and the name of their Chinese teacher. The sooner this information is sent in, the sooner Ms. Mack can get the names prepared and handed out to the kids! We will have a special naming ceremony for the kids to help them get excited about their Chinese names. WHAT WE ARE LEARNING: ELA: We are on Unit 4 Week 2. The story is Cinderella!
