Since school gets out at 12:40 PM on June 6th, the students will be very hungry and in need of some snacks. If you are interested in sending a snack (veggies, juice boxes, fruit, fruit snacks, chips, paper goods, etc) for the class with your student, please let us know! We are very appreciative of any snacks that you are able to send with your student. Also, we want to make sure that we celebrate all birthdays this year. If we have not had the opportunity to celebrate your student’s birthday, please let us know! It is very important to us that we recognize and celebrate each child’s birthday! The last day of school would be a perfect time to celebrate birthdays! Chinese Summer Camp: The University of Utah’s Confucius Institute is hosting an intensive, week-long Chinese summer camp in July at several locations, including Ridgecrest! Students will participate in a two hour language class in the morning, and receive a cultural lesson in the afternoon with guest teachers from China. Dual immersion students who will be in 2nd through 6th grade this coming school year are welcome to enroll! Please visit the following link for more information: https://continue.utah.edu/youth/chinese-immersion A note about warm weather: the cool spring weather seems to have vanished overnight and we are now enjoying much warmer days! Please remind your student to drink plenty of water during the day and to dress appropriately for the sudden change in temperature. Applying sunscreen before school is encouraged since students spend quite a bit of time outside for recess and other class activities. Students are also welcome to bring their own water bottles from home and keep them at their desks. FIELD TRIP UPDATE: The first grade field trip is on THURSDAY! We will be heading to the museum at Thanksgiving Point on May 16th! If you are planning on meeting us at the museum, you are still required to sign up as a volunteer through Canyons School District. Here is the link: https://foundation.canyonsdistrict.org/index.php/volunteer. Volunteers who are meeting the first grade classes at the museum will need to arrange their own travel to and from the museum and will have to pay for their own entrance. We will ensure that parents or family volunteers will be in the same group as their students. We can’t wait for our great adventure! Please remember your student’s lunch choice and help them remember! ;) We are so excited! Keep your eyes posted for pictures on class dojo!
