We will also be reviewing exclamatory sentences, interrogative sentences and declarative sentences. One of the ways that we will be reviewing is through an interactive games (jeopardy and games like "blurt") and even Socratic seminars! CHINESE: Students are continuing to read and write new characters from Unit 3 of Mandarin Matrix. Students will review the story, "Amusement Park," and will read two new stories: "Haircut" and "Sit Down." Students will practice key phrases including "Where is....?," "Who wants to sit here?," "He/she is sitting," "He/she isn't sitting," etc. Students will be able to read and write the characters "不 (no/not), 坐 (sit), 在 (at/in), 里 (inside)," and we will continue to reinforce the characters for numbers 1-10, as well as the characters for big (大), little (小), on top of/up (上), and underneath/down (下). MATH: We are working hard to wrap up unit 4 this week! Students are learning strategies to help them do subtraction using numbers from 1-20. We have been spending a lot of time practicing doubles (2+2, 3+3, 4+4) and near doubles (3+4, 5+6, 7+8) which is a helpful strategy to subtract. The students know songs about these math facts in Chinese--ask them to sing them to you! Please continue to practice math fluency at home and ask your child to practice talking to you about math in Chinese! HOMEWORK: We will have Chinese reading fluency, math, Chinese character writing practice, and reading for 10 minutes. Please let us know if you have any questions about homework.
