We can't wait to meet with you and your student! Please make sure you sign up for conferences! We also are needing a few parents to still sign up for ClassDojo! Both classes earned a behavior reward for earning over 1,000 points last week. We are planning our next behavior incentive! LUNCH CHOICES Monday: Cheesy Chicken Quesadilla, Hamburger, Grilled Cheese Sandwich Tuesday: Chicken Alfredo, Mini Corn Dogs and Chef Salad Wednesday: Hot Ham and Cheese Sandwich, Nachos or Tuna Sandwich Thursday: Dutch Waffle, Chicken Nuggets and Taco Salad Friday: No School! :) Monday: Whole Grain Soft Pretzel, Hamburger, Grilled Cheese Sandwich Tuesday: Hawaiian Haystack, Mini Corn Dogs and Chef Salad WHAT WE ARE LEARNING ELA: Ms. Terry is sending home school work from the past week and a half. Don’t worry about completing pages or sending it back. We are moving forward and starting our first unit of reading street this week! Our question of the week is "What do pets need?" Our story is titled "Sam, Come Back!" It is a realistic fiction story. We will be working on our short /a/ sound as well as the consonant pattern -ck. Now, this week, the spelling words will be quite simple for these bright students so we will be practicing other words that follow the same pattern. This is one way that we will be challenging our talented, smart brains! A spelling list will be coming home with your child today! We will also be working on rhyming words and writing complete thoughts and sentences, remembering our capital letter at the beginning and our punctuation at the end. We started doing lexia last week on the Chromebooks. The students are doing a wonderful job logging on and taking of their Chromebooks and headphones. The first time they logged on, it took 40 minutes. We are down to it taking less than 5 minutes to log on! It’s amazing how 5 days of practice will make such a big difference! CHINESE: This week, students are reviewing the topics covered in the first four weeks of school: family, friends, animals, clothing, and colors. Students will continue to focus on talking about animals they like and do not like, as well as what animals need and where they live. Most exciting of all: students will begin to learn characters this week! The first unit will cover the Chinese characters for numbers 1-10. Ask your students to share what they are learning with you! We hope your students will feel confident and optimistic as they start to develop their writing skills. MATH: We are still working on topic 1 in math which is addition and subtraction problems to 10. The students are making great strides in counting to 10 in Chinese as well as recognizing math vocabulary in Chinese. HOMEWORK: Homework is coming home today. Please feel free to enrich the homework if you would like. If it is too difficult, be adapt as needed. If you would like homework, please contact Ms. Mack. Homework is usually sent home on Monday and can be returned on Friday. Here’s to an awesome week! Please let us know if your student has an after school activity so we can help remind them.
