Parent Teacher Conference this week! :) We can't wait to meet with you and your student! Please do your best to be on time! During the school day, we will be meeting in the library but after school conferences will be held in Ms. Terry’s classroom. With parent teacher conferences this week, Ms. Mack and Ms. Terry will be out of the classroom for 1 day and a half. Please help reinforce positive behaviors and following the classroom routines with your student! Both Ms. Mack and Ms. Terry had professional developments classes last week which both required a sub on separate days and the notes left from the subs indicated that students struggled to follow school rules. Thank you for your help! We want the classroom to always be a learning environment, even when a sub is there. Ms. Terry has her volunteer schedule posted for a couple weeks! Please sign up if you'd like to work in the classroom! www.signupgenius.com/go/20f094ba9ac2ba7fd0-volunteer No School on Friday! Have a great long weekend! Our story is titled "Pig in a Wig" It is an animal fantasy story. We will be talking about the plot of the story as well as being able to summarize what happened in the story. We will be working on our short /i/ sound as well the consonant x/ks/. This week, the spelling words will be pretty simple for these bright students, again, so we will be practicing other words that follow the same pattern. A spelling list will be coming home with your child on Monday! We will also be working on writing complete sentences and being able to identify the subject of the sentence. We are still working on remembering our capital letters at the beginning and our punctuation at the end. We are learning more stations for our skill based instruction. This week, we will continue to be working on buddy reading and adding additional stations to the routine! We have been really successful with keeping our volume level at the appropriate volume but we are still working on staying focused with the station task at hand and completing it the whole task! CHINESE: This week, students are reviewing the topics covered in the first five weeks of school: family, friends, animals, clothing, and colors. Students will continue to focus on talking about animals they like and do not like, as well as what animals need and where they live. We are continuing our first writing unit which has 3 stories in it! We hope your students will feel confident and optimistic as they start to develop their writing skills. MATH: We will into topic 2 which is expanding on their understanding of addition and subtraction! The students are making great strides in counting to 10 in Chinese as well as recognizing math vocabulary in Chinese.
